She looked at the only photos she had from her childhood… Three photos and no more. There was something in the little girl eyes in these photos that she could not shake. They commanded her attention. They commanded her focus. In those eyes she saw promise. She saw heartbreak. She saw hope…

He wrapped his arms tightly around me and said, “I got you. I got you in this moment and I got you forever”.

I told him not to make promises he can’t keep.

I first started to write this post in May 2020. At the time, I felt I needed to be reminded that I was further along than I thought. I also hoped that sharing this snapshot would give someone hope and faith to keep pushing forward.
