Apathy
Apathy.... unresponsive, dispassion, passive, indifferent, unconcerned.
Oh Zion, hear how creation all around us yearn.
Yearn for the way things are suppose to be, yearn for how things used to be.
They say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Looking at the current state of the church;
If this isn’t broke then I don’t know what is.
Why is it that worship and justice has become an eluding reality?
Why is it that we are not aware of this fact until an earthquake occurs in a place like Haiti?
Why have we become concern with quantity instead of quality?
We hear all around us that we are currently in a recession.
As a young Christian, the body of Christ looks like we are going through the Great depression.
Numbness has been our best friend, complacency our lover.
We have been hiding behind these four walls but the truth is about to be uncovered. Going through the motions has left us apathetic.
Life is no longer about God but rather about us making it.
Worship, worship has totally been transformed into a show.
The aim is not to give glory and honour to God but rather to see how high I can go.
We proceeded to think we can put God in a little box;
Forgetting that the time we are on is his,
He is the one that make our tick, tock.
We have become busy bodies consumed with our own lives.
Oblivious of the fact that living in Christ means to die.
Our casual concern with those around us should be heart rending;
But instead it’s not, this is seen as quite accomplishing.
This has not been written only for the ears and hearts that receive it;
This is my heart’s conviction and I want to be free of it.
In order for change to come we need to get back to basics.
We need to stop trying to run through this life as if we are a pair of Asics.

Let us tear the mask off our religion to expose what it really is;
Pride, tradition and a whole of self-righteousness.
By coming together connected through brokenness; saved only by his redemptive grace, our neighbour no longer remains just as our neighbour; they become our brother and sister.
No longer can we remaining stagnant and isolated individuals in our pews,
No longer can we only just spread the gospel, we have to now live the good news.
I don’t have long strenuous prayer of repentance
But I think we can start like this:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, and thy will be done, on
Earth as it is in heaven the same
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but
Deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the
Power and the glory, for ever
And ever,
Amen.
