I'm a Just Do It...

So, if you catch me on my good day and even on my off day and ask me, “Latoya, how are you going to change the world?” My response will be and my response is “I’m a just do it.”

Now I need you to bend down close and let me tell you what I know. I need you to come a little closer and really lend me your ear. You ask how will I do this, the thing is a lot times we think that for us to change the world we need to have a one time huge impact on thousands and thousands and even millions of people for that to be categorized as changing the world. But are you ready for it? Listen..., if your life can impact just one person and change the way that they view things, their perspective and the way they see themselves in the greater story of now, then you my friend are a world changer.

Many times we tend to shy away from thinking what some would categorize as ginormous thoughts because we feel inferior, we feel inadequate to have such an impact on the world much less anyone. But I am your friendly conscience that sits both on the left and right side of your head. Yes, I am that big, yes I am not that influential. Or should I say this thought is that big and influential. :) I am here today to let you know that it is ok to think such ginormous thoughts; it is ok to have such humungous goals. You see, every day that you get up and are chasing your dream that is exactly what you are doing.

Listen..., if your life can impact just one person and change the way that they view things, their perspective and the way they see themselves in the greater story of now, then you my friend are a world changer.

No one knows like you the courage it takes to get up out of a bed each morning when everything inside you is saying lay down, it doesnt make any sense fighting for this any more or thoughts screaming you are not going to make it. The mere fact that you pushed through and you get up tells me that you are on the path to being a world changer.  You may say that you are not in your ideal job and your going to this 9 to 5 that is killing you literally. I say, what if you view your 9 to 5 as a mission, your mission to give back. A mission to ensure that your working environment is never the same because you are there. Here is an example of what this would look like:

What if, instead of dreading going in to that boss that micromanages the beegeezees out of you, you view it as, this morning I am going in and I am going to work my best. He or she may ask me so many questions and make me feel like I am not capable of doing my job but my response to them will not be one of anger or agitation. I will view the many questions they are asking me as their curiosity into why I am such an awesome individual.

Over the past two years I have learned that perspective is everything. I have learned that in the midst of what seems to be failure and no recovery there is always a silver lining, there is always a break in the storm clouds. I have learned that nothing can separate us from the Love that was created for us. I have learned that as human beings we were created in the image of One that makes us resilient... that makes us so powerful that if we dare try to tap into the power that lies within us, the world will indeed be changed.

Perspective is everything.

You see, I have moved from a place of thinking changing the world was just a dream that we all aspired to as children. I now believe that with change of perspective, with a coming to know what truly lies within us that changing the world is actually a reality. The difference between whether you and I are actively living that out is our knowledge of it being a reality. The Good Book says, "My people perish due to lack of knowledge." So I dare say if you are at that place where you have begun to believe that your dreams aren't adequate enough, that you will never be able to do the things you set out to do at one point, I dare say to you that YOU CAN and YOU WILL. The light and momentary issues arounds us, the trials and struggles that may seem so all surmounting, earnestly trying to communicate that there is no end are in fact setting us up for eternal glory. They signify the beginning of greatness because you my child, you my friend, you my brother, my sister, my mother, my father, my family are destined for greatness.

I dare say if you are at that place where you have begun to believe that your dreams aren’t adequate enough, that you will never be able to do the things you set out to do at one point, I dare say to you that YOU CAN and YOU WILL.

So again if you ask me, "Latoya, how are you going to change the world?" My response will be and is "I'm a just do it because I was created for this."
