A Place Called "Now"
I AM who I am becoming… This is a thought that rings loud in my spirit these days. For most of my life I have spent considerable amount of time focused on the end result of who I am becoming and have not spent enough time appreciating the person I am in this very moment. I dare say I am not the only one who has been in this predicament.
As may be the case with you, human nature bewilders me most days. Why does it take something drastic to happen for us to truly stop and take stock of that which is important? It takes someone passing for us to truly appreciate their presence or it takes being diagnosis with a sickness we could have prevented for us to take better care of ourselves. I think you get the gist of where I am going; it shouldn’t take these things for us to stop and appreciate the life we have been given now.
I do believe that it is important to set goals for ourselves and to have a vision of where we want to be in the future. I however, do not think this should consume our ability to live in the moment, preventing us from through enjoying the journey. I honestly believe that the journey is the sweetest part.
I think that one of the reasons why we prevent ourselves from enjoying the journey is because we believe we are not enough. We believe that some how because we have not yet attained the end goal in mind, that we have come up short resulting in us being unworthy to be appreciated now.
I am here today to let you know that YOU ARE ENOUGH. Who you are now is more than enough. You are unique and there will never be another like you. I am here to tell you that your not appreciating who you are in this very moment is robbing someone of the awesomeness you possess. Your striving to be a better person is a good but in your striving please don’t forget that to appreciate and love on the person you are in this very moment.
I hope you hear my heart as you read this. Let’s not get caught up striving that we miss the amazing opportunity to be proud how far we have come to get to this place called “Now”. When we allow ourselves to live in the now, we give others the permission to do so as well. When we can appreciate the here and now only then will we be able to see the endless possibilities of what lies ahead.
