Brute

Like the waves that crash upon the seashore

So your love consumes me.

Eroding all of my false pretences to expose the true nature of my heart

As your grace gently subsides.

A beautiful portrait is revealed.

Beauty higher than that of the standards of this world.

With every imperfection laid bare,

With every scar and hurt unconcealed

You parade around me with your unconditional love.

Through the wind on the waves you embrace me with your presence.

With every ripple you remind me of the time I first fell in love with you.

See you loved me from before the beginning of time

And vowed to love me into eternity.

I pushed you away and your love I wanted none of it.

How could I have been so brutish?

For brutish is the only way to describe such behaviour.

The time before you is a painful reminder one that I cannot stomach.
