I Met Jacob Today

So I met Jacob today

And prior to our encounter,

I never second guessed that I wasn’t Rachel.

But when I saw him today,

I found myself asking, what if I am just Leah?

The one who is not to be desired,

The one known as homely, nothing here to see.

The one constantly overlooked,

The cliff that holds the sea hostage.

I met Jacob today.

For my entire life I have waited for this moment,

And in a matter of seconds

My carefully constructed mosaic is threaten to lie in ruins.

I am thankful I met Jacob today

For now I know my expectations I cannot always expect to meet,

And even though my heart is broken, it rebelliously continues to beat.
