Through My Eyes
“This poem is featured in an upcoming project called ‘Growth Spurt’ which documents poems written from circa 2004. It is my desire to share a few of these poems over the next couple of weeks.”
Look at the world through my eyes and tell me what you see…
Can you see the pain, do you see the enemy?
The world is at war with itself.
One would think it would be a scenario with Heaven and Hell.
The Government is as crazy as ever.
Temperature is up and down, don’t even mention the weather.
Innocent bloodshed has become the norm.
A school boy got shot down and no one was alarmed.
To fit in, that’s the aim of our young people today.
They shy away from the Moses position, no one wants to lead the way.
Look at the world through my eyes and tell me what you see…
Is this life everything you ever thought it would be?
I remember my theme song for life being ‘F -The World and let um die’.
Now, when I look back at it, I can’t see the reason why.
My fellow peers are dying by the thousands & falling by the way side.
While us Church folk are comfortable hiding behind the four walls, singing Down by The Riverside.
Everybody wants to leave their troubles all behind.
Reality is no longer an option, they choose to get high.
True role models are harder to find than crude oil.
We all in it for the money we all want the spoils.
Look at the world through my eyes and tell me what you see…
I see a dying world in darkness, they’re lost they can’t see.
As Christians, our job is to bring the light.
But instead we turn them away with our hatred and strife.
They’re confused, they cannot tell that we are different from the rest.
It’s like we have the answers but we continue to fail the test.
I heard Lyfe Jennings say it 'Must Be Nice'!
And I have to agree, but it’s up to us to bring this dream to life.
Looking through my eyes I can’t explain what I see.
But I know through His I see peace and joy for all eternity.
